Radon Testing
Testing is the only way to know what your home's radon levels actually are
Central New York sits on geology that produces radon, and levels vary considerably from one property to the next. Whether you already own the home or are considering buying it, a test is the only way to find out where you stand.
We use continuous monitoring for accurate results, and we explain what those results mean in plain language rather than handing you a number and leaving you to interpret it.
Radon testing can be added to any home inspection, or scheduled on its own. Call us at (315) 558-3561 to schedule your test.
A few things worth understanding before you decide whether to test:
Radon is produced as uranium in the earth's crust decays. Outdoors it dissipates harmlessly into the atmosphere. Inside a home it can become trapped, and that is where it becomes a health concern.
According to the EPA, radon is a leading contributor to the development of lung cancer, behind only smoking. Exposure produces no symptoms a doctor can identify, which is exactly why testing is the only way to know.
Radon affects slab, crawl space, and basement foundations alike, and is found in new construction as well as older homes. Levels vary house to house, sometimes between neighbors on the same street, so a neighbor's result tells you nothing about your own.
